AG's staff to investigate Comer voter's complaint

Voter Brad Cannon complained to the state that when he cast an absentee ballot in person before Comer's Nov. 3 general election, poll workers made several errors. Only one poll worker was present, the poll worker didn't tell him to put his ballot in an envelope, and the ballot box had too large a slot, he said.
A state elections investigator found poll workers might have violated several rules by not asking voters to put ballots in envelopes, having only two poll workers present and collecting ballots in an unsecured box, according to a summary of investigation.
Comer Mayor David McMickle expects the city and the state Attorney General's Office can reach an agreement to fix those problems soon, he said.
"I don't think that anybody intentionally did anything wrong," McMickle said. "They were all procedural violations."
Comer has not had as many elections as other cities, he said.
